Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south to Gympie in the north.

**Key Responsibilities include**:
- Functioning in accordance with legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act (2016), Guardianship and Administration Act (2011), Aged Care Act (1997) and Disability Act (2014) when undertaking activities as delegated to provide accountable care that is safe and relevant for individuals and groups.
- Continually monitor and actively patrol clinical/nonclinical areas whilst pro-actively engage with patients, visitors, and staff to develop a positive safety culture.
- Create opportunities to enhance patient and family experience by making connections with those and, where possible, alleviating some of the stressors and anxiety through respectful interactions.
- Use supportive verbal techniques and engage staff resources to identify appropriate strategies aimed at the de-escalation of potentially inappropriate, aggressive or violent behaviour.
