About the role

Full-Time Position Until September 2026 (Parental Leave Cover)

A great opportunity has become available to join AGL Loy Yang.

The Scientific Technical Officer plays a vital role in the Scientific Services team, ensuring the effective operation and monitoring of water treatment and chemical plants at Loy Yang Power Station.

The Scientific Services team is critical to station asset protection, site HSE, and generation reliability, maintaining the highest standards in chemical plant operations and scientific tasks.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor water treatment and chemical systems in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Manage water and steam monitoring equipment, including conducting manual sampling.
- Support unit return to service, identify defects, and assist with plant isolations.
- Commit to OH&S and risk management in a heavy industrial environment, continuously enhancing workplace health and safety.
- Perform key Scientific Services functions, including daily routines, plant operation, chemical deliveries, confined space gas testing, calibration, and maintenance of online analysers.
- Participate in the out-of-hours on-call roster.

About you
- Experience in water treatment, chemistry, chemical processes, power station operations, heavy industry, atmospheric gas testing, chemical handling, and permitting is desirable.
- Strong teamworking and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and proactive in identifying and mitigating potential errors.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Commitment to quality monitoring, ensuring adherence to work instructions and targets.

Work Schedule

This position follows a 1x7 roster with 10.28-hour shifts, requiring work two weekends per month (effectively a 5-days-on, 5-days-off schedule in a 36-hour week).
