**Job Summary**:
The Formworker is responsible for constructing formwork for concrete structures on construction sites. This includes setting up, maintaining, and dismantling formwork for columns, beams, slabs, and other structural elements. The Formworker ensures that all formwork is built to specification and complies with safety standards.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Formwork Construction**:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and dimensions of the structures to be formed.
- Build and assemble formwork for various concrete structures including foundations, walls, columns, and slabs.
- Install formwork accurately to ensure correct dimensions and alignment.
- **Installation and Maintenance**:
- Set up and secure forms in place with the appropriate bracing and support.
- Maintain formwork during concrete pouring and curing to ensure stability and safety.
- Inspect formwork for defects and make necessary repairs to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
- **Concrete Pouring Support**:
- Work closely with concrete pour crews to ensure proper placement and finishing of concrete.
- Remove formwork after concrete has sufficiently cured, ensuring no damage to the concrete structure.
- **Safety and Compliance**:
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Adhere to all relevant regulations and standards, including building codes and occupational health and safety regulations.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- **Technical Skills**:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and blueprints.
- Skilled in the use of carpentry tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of different types of formwork systems and materials.
- **Experience**:
- Previous experience as a formworker or in a similar role in the construction industry.
- Experience with both traditional timber formwork and modern formwork systems (e.g., steel, aluminum).
- **Physical Requirements**:
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- **Personal Attributes**:
- Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
**Education and Certification**:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship in carpentry or formwork (preferred).
- Certification in workplace health and safety
**Job Types**: Part-time, Subcontract, Casual, Contract
Contract length: 3 months
Pay: $40.00 - $65.00 per hour
