We are looking for a Fresh Specialist to join the SA Sales & Operations team on a 12-month fixed term contract. In this role key purpose of the role is to build & maintain strong relationships with our retail partners, provide expert support and category knowledge to store & category managers, maximize sales opportunities during key seasonal and event periods, whilst ensuring stores are compliant with all food safety standards.

This role will be managing the SA/NT region and will require regional travel across South Australia as well as travel to the NT approximately two times per year

What you’ll do
- Provide knowledge, support & expertise of the Deli, Bakery & Fresh Ready Meals categories to department and store managers across Foodland & IGA stores
- Provide Fresh specific business support to retailers via department sales & industry data ensuring they are maximizing sales opportunities and following market and category trends.
- Ensure stores are meeting Food Safety standards and are adopting best practice methods within each department.
- Provide expert support and knowledge to the wider operations team, working with them to undertake fresh growth strategies with individual stores.
- Work closely with the State Project team, providing Fresh knowledge and expertise relating to new store and department relays with the goal of maximizing Fresh sales and shopper experience within the individual departments.

What you’ll bring
- Strong experience working within a supermarket Fresh department (Deli and or Bakery specific) as a manager or similar
- Experience in buying within a Fresh category (Deli and or bakery preferred) and knowledge of market & supply trends within the industry
- Multi-site/store experience
- Broad understanding of the Metcash Food business (structure, products and services & Metcash network)
- Strong influencing skills and ability to rapidly establish trust and build relations with retailers (owners and department managers)
- Ability to demonstrate effective promotional and sales skills, with a strong track record of closing successful deals and meeting sales targets
- Ability to work within a team environment,
- Ability to consistently adopt a ‘customer first’ mindset
- Strong communication skills and the ability to relate to others across all parts of the business.
