**Role**:
**School Canteen Assistant - Education Support Level 1, Range 2**
This role is essential for supporting the smooth running of a school¿s food services, ensuring students have access to healthy and safe food options while fostering a positive, efficient environment.
An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.

**Food Preparation and Serving**:
Assist in preparing, cooking, and serving food to students, staff, and visitors.
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene during preparation, handling, and serving.
Provide excellent customer service by interacting with students and staff in a friendly and helpful manner.
Assist in receiving deliveries and restocking items as needed.
Help organize and store food and supplies according to health and safety guidelines.
Ensure the canteen area is kept clean and hygienic at all times, including wiping down surfaces, cleaning utensils, and maintaining cleanliness in food preparation areas.
Follow all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures.
**Compliance with Health and Safety Standards**:
Adhere to all relevant food safety regulations, including correct food handling, storage, and cleanliness procedures.
Monitor food expiry dates and take necessary actions to dispose of or rotate stock accordingly.
Work closely with the Canteen Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.
Assist in menu planning, setting prices, and suggesting food or snack options to meet student preferences and dietary requirements.
**Teamwork and Communication**:
Work effectively as part of a team to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and in a timely manner.
Communicate with teachers, students, and other staff to meet their needs and expectations.
