The Biostatistician, Registry Science will provide statistical support primarily to the Australian Orthopaedic Association’s National Joint Replacement Registry (AOANJRR).

Reporting to the Lead Senior Biostatistician, the position will work closely with the Senior Manager, Registry Science, biostatisticians, data managers and external stakeholders.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

- Participate in and contribute to ongoing research projects and clinical studies.
- Assist stakeholders and researchers in the preparation of written reports and manuscripts.
- Participate in special projects to continuously improve processes.
- Take reasonable care to protect own health, safety and welfare at work and avoid affecting the health and safety of any other person at work.
- Participate in the implementation of the Institute’s Work, Health and Safety Management System and related laws, regulations and guidelines.

About You
- Essential: Relevant honours degree or equivalent in statistics or biostatistics
- Desirable: Postgraduate research degree (Master’s or PhD or equivalent) or relevant work experience in a similar role
- In-depth understanding of probability and statistics theory
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in statistical analysis of research data (including survival analysis)
- Knowledge of and experience in programming using statistical software programs such as SAS, STATA or R
- Ability to explain and interpret results of statistical analyses to others
- Familiarity and experience in a health-related environment with large-scale observational databases
- Understanding of data management principles for large scale clinical research
- Ability to build relationships and establish rapport within a small team of researchers
- Efficient time management skills to complete work within required timeframes
- Excellent attention to detail
