Job Description:
As a Meteorologist at DTN, you will deliver accurate and timely weather forecasts and insights that help our customers make critical decisions across industries such as aviation, energy, agriculture, and media. Working as part of the APAC Meteorology team, you will contribute directly to the quality and reliability of our services by producing forecasts, briefings, and client communications. This role is ideal for a mid-level professional who is confident in operational forecasting and eager to further develop expertise while contributing to the success of the team.
What you will be responsible for:
- Monitor and analyze evolving weather and climate patterns, highlighting potential impacts for customers.
- Prepare and deliver accurate forecasts, graphical products, and commentaries for B2B and B2C audiences.
- Provide customized meteorological briefings by phone or video conference and occasionally support media interviews.
- Proactively notify clients of significant weather events and ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.
- Conduct quality checks on meteorological data and forecasts to maintain accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with colleagues, contribute ideas in team discussions, and support the development of junior team members when needed.
- Participate in continuous training and capability development to stay current with evolving meteorological techniques.
What you will bring to the role:
- Tertiary qualification in meteorology, atmospheric science, or climatology (WMO-compliant qualification desirable).
- Around 2-4 years of operational forecasting experience, ideally with exposure to the Australian region.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with forecasting models and meteorological tools.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to present forecasts and briefings to customers.
- Flexible and collaborative mindset, with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused services.
- Desirable: Knowledge of aviation meteorology; familiarity with HTML or basic databases.
