Thales Australia’s Airspace Mobility Solutions (AMS) business is providing leading edge airspace control and security solutions for the commercial and defence sectors, as well as digital solutions for Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) and Digital Aviation.
Thales Airspace Mobility Solution technology manages close to 80% of the worlds airspace and is the most credible player in the new UTM space.

To accomplish the AMS strategy and to strengthen the team, AMS is looking for a Software Discipline Manager.
In this purposeful role, the Software Discipline Manager is part of the Software Discipline governance, led by the Software Head of Discipline, and is committed to people and discipline management.
With an inspirational and people focused leadership style, the Software Discipline Manager will be instrumental in the deployment of the AMS engineering transformation which embodies a people and customer centric focus, a learning culture and continually improvement.
**Responsibilities**:
- Contribute to building a clear vision and direction with Head of Discipline in engineering-wide initiatives and communicate to the team
- Contribute to the discipline enhancement plan and support improvements raised by the teams to process and tools in order to boost quality, efficiency and delivery on-time
- Develop innovation and entrepreneurship culture
- Be responsible for the adoption of new technologies linked to our business (Digital tools, Cloud, CI/CD pipeline, containers,)
- Foster collaboration with other disciplines to define multi-discipline solutions with added value
- Contribute to Software Engineering Solution Governance
- Communicate, standardize and reinforce the software quality standards and monitor their deployment
- Perform Technical Reviews associated with their discipline on Bids/projects
- Be responsible for engineering discipline cost model definition and upgrades based on capitalization and Metrics done by the discipline
- Monitor regularly competitiveness
- Deliver on forecasting
- Drive continues improvement and efficiency projects
**Qualification**:
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
- Proven experience in development of products and projects in a variety of methodologies, with a particular focus on agile development
- Significant experience (5+ years) in managing people in a software focused environment
- Experience in safety critical/ real-time software development and associated software assurance
- High level of empowerment and ability to engage various stakeholders
- Accountability, transparency and curiosity
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interact effectively with senior management, customers and partners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strongly focused and self-motivated to overachieve goal
- High energy, driven to innovate, and a team player
