Northrop Grumman Australia provides the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) with through-life support for its fleet of KC-30A Multi-role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft—a derivative of the Airbus A330-200—located at RAAF Amberley. The platform is a trusted and proven asset and the program is continually growing in capability, fleet size and expertise.

We are now seeking an experienced, passionate and suitably qualified B1 Crew Leader - Operational Maintenance to join the KC-30A Field Services team located at RAAF Base Amberley.

The Crew Leader is required to lead their allocated crew and ensure compliance to technical regulations with our 33SQN Customer(s), particularly around the area of Independent Maintenance Inspections and general supervision of technical staff.

This position provides both technical and people leadership to ensure that the critical path and operational deliverables, which may include working alternate or extended shifts to provide technical expertise and certification oversight achieve these maintenance deadlines.

Due to being embedded with our customer, a customer-centric approach, positive attitude and professional qualities are paramount for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Perform, supervise and certify maintenance actions and Independent Maintenance Inspections as a CASA/DASA B1 licence holder.
- Manage allocated team and resources and deliver serviceable aircraft on time and within budget
- Be fit for representational duties in line with CoA and NGA-TS requirements
- Ensure that all associated tasks and responsibilities comply and conform to relevant regulatory and quality requirements and Company policies and standards.
- Manage and/or supervise workforce during RAAF Part 145 controlled maintenance events
- Provide SME advice on availability of approved alternative spare parts and materials and present solutions to enable aircraft despatch
- Lead working groups to aid development of future Part 145 state and capability
- Maintain positive working relationship with SQN personnel at all levels
- Report all incidents and hazards and comply with safe work practices and policies
- Lead and assist in the development of Risk Assessments as required for maintenance

Amberley Specific Requirements:

- Manage allocated workload assigned from Maintenance Co-ordinator
- Raise REA, PIRR, SDIR RAAP reports IAW 33 SQN SI
- Mentor SQN personnel during maintenance specifically in the areas of aircraft systems, troubleshooting, approved data, spares, tools and GSE
- Deploy in support of 33 SQN P145 on high visibility tasking and provide on-site assistance in the rectification of break downs, and the coordination of additional requirements to ensure tasking is achieved
- Be fit for representational duties in line with CoA and NGA-TS requirements
- Act as Unit Inspection Officer for Aeronautical Product
- Assist the Field Services Manager / Operational maintenance Lead to ensure that all associated tasks and responsibilities comply and conform to relevant regulatory and quality requirements and Company policies and standards.
- Actively manage Deferred Defects to ensure capability requirements are maintained for Commonwealth tasking

Skills and Qualifications required:

- NV 1 Security Clearance
- Current DASA/CASA B1.1 license with A330 (CF6) Type rating
- KC-30A differences or type course
- CASA A330 B1 License (6 months certifying currency in 24 month period)
- Working knowledge of Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA) or CASA regulatory environments
- Professional and personal qualities to enable representational duties and direct customer contact
