The Compliance Officer undertakes regulatory activities in relation to the regulation of water in Victoria as well as to various health regulatory domains (which may include radiation, legionella and food safety regulation). Working across the different sectors, the Compliance Officer will use their knowledge and experience to support and administer the team's regulatory functions and monitor and enforce compliance in accordance with the relevant legislation.

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will work in a small and busy team that provides advice to senior management in the Department and the Minister for Health on various regulatory issues and administer legislation and regulations in various health regulatory domains.

The role may include periods of stand-by duty out-of
- business hours on a rotating roster(weeknights and weekends) regarding water quality incidents and emergencies and travel to regional and remote areas.

**Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate**:

- Conduct desktop and onsite assessments of regulated entities, preparing reports, advice, and correspondence as required and assisting in taking essential regulatory action when non-compliance is identified.
- Provide input into compliance review frameworks, development of annual plans and identify opportunities for improvement and efficiencies.
- Work collaboratively across the organisation to identify and address areas of non-compliance.
- Assist in the development of a risk based regulatory approach to legislation the Branch is responsible for.
- Provide input into development of responses to address emerging issues and areas of risk for government, department and the community.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
