**NATURE GUIDE/ KAYAKING INSTRUCTOR**

North Star Holiday Resort is a multi-award-winning and Eco-Tourism certified holiday resort at Hastings Point, in the heart of the northern NSW Tweed Coast. Over the past 40 years, North Star has grown to become one of Australia’s top holiday destinations, with an onsite restaurant, conference and event spaces, day spa and leisure centre, kids’ club, water park and 8.2-meter-high water slides and newly refurbished Marine Discovery Centre.

Nature guide/ Kayaking Instructor wanted for school, tourist, and special interest groups.

Are you an experienced guide, a skilled graduate with special interests, active with a life interest in nature, First Nations knowledge holder or a local expert? Do you have Ecotourism guiding or Flat-Water accreditation or equivalent? We welcome your enquiry.

You will need to demonstrate dedicated regard for the education and enjoyment of others, first and foremost, plus a deep sensitivity for the natural environment in which we operate. Also, sound knowledge of Hastings Point and it’s diverse ecosystems.

We are seeking a nature guide/ Kayaking instructor to join our small but passionate team. You will require a high standard of knowledge, passion to provide offering quality service with the safety and enjoyment of people as priority.

**To be the excellent, professional, and ethical field guide you will therefore need to**:

- Have a love for nature, the outdoors and giving an unforgettable customer experience with previous experience in guiding/ outdoor activity highly regarded.
- Hold a tertiary qualification or keen interest in Outdoor Leadership, First Nations, Education, Science, Eco-Tourism, Marine Biology or Ecology
- Have flexibility in work hours with groups booking on an adhoc basis. This position has no set hours with shifts typically Monday - Friday.
- Reside locally as shifts are commonly 2 - 4 hours in duration
- If desired, protentional for additional hours in another department to supplement the sporadic nature of school groups e.g. Pool Lifeguard.
- Have a caring, enthusiastic, passionate, and respectful attitude towards all aspects of the natural environment
- Hold current Senior First Aid Certification and Working with Children check
- Must have current Flat-Water accreditation or be willing to obtain
- Demonstrated drive and self-motivation to learn and adapt quickly
- Have the fitness and ability to paddle kayaks and guide tours to our four eco-systems including the Hastings Point Rocky Shore Headland as a leader of guided tours.
- Have exceptional understanding of WH&S requirements and risk assessments
- Have a willingness to work in all kinds of weather
- Have a desire to be an integral and valued member of our passionate team
- Hold a current manual drivers license, and reliable transport is essential
