**The Company**
Our client, Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) is an independent not-for-profit organisation with a vision to achieve a sustainable future for people and planet. Their uniquely holistic approach to sustainability encompasses environmental, human health and social impacts.

GECA is the only Australian member of the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN), the leading network of the world's most credible and robust lifecycle ecolabels following ISO 14024 principles. GECA is also a certified B-Corporation.

**The Role**
Leading a team of 10, the CEO will have the skills and vision to drive the organisation to the next level of growth, leveraging off the healthy financial position to achieve even greater impact on sustainability in the years ahead.

Main strategies include:

- Positioning GECA as a significant thought leader in sustainable consumption and production, either alone or in partnership with others.
- Increasing sustainable consumption and production in Australia, including by building deep and effective partnerships with industry, NGO, government, and others.
- Delivering substantial growth in revenue and impact by continuing and growing the implementation of GECA’s development plans.
- Increasing GECA’s ability to measure and communicate environmental and social impact.

Key responsibilities include:

- Lead GECA’s program to advocate for more sustainable consumption and production including promoting sustainable procurement to State and Federal government, major corporations, and other purchasers.
- Work with key staff to oversee and lead GECA’s marketing, communication, and business development activities to achieve GECA’s agreed strategic objectives.
- Execute the duties of managing the organisation with all governance, operational & financial responsibilities, with support from key staff.

You’re a confident, master communicator with networking being one of your biggest strengths. You are passionate about impactful work, specifically in sustainability and because of this, people respond to the message you deliver. These skills and interests ensure you form robust partnerships and relationships with a wide range of individuals, groups, and organisations. You prefer to work in collaboration and have experience in engaging with clients and State and Federal Government stakeholders, with demonstrated success in advocacy and campaigning to achieve policy and/or practical outcomes.

A decisive, hands-on leader, you enjoy a full plate and appreciate the opportunity to roll up your sleeves to be able to support your team and stakeholders. You’re known to be an efficient, thoughtful people leader. You engage your team with encouragement, guidance, and flexibility.

You bring strong business acumen with sound operational understanding of marketing, PR, and finance. You can pivot from varying responsibilities, balancing business strategy and operational requirements and are adept at navigating your day with multiple, competing demands. From the ability to driving focus in the day to day, to converting ideas and opportunities to create impact, to representing the vision and purpose to stakeholders, and prioritising the need for commercial return.

Additionally, you will possess:

- Relevant sustainability experience, preferably anchored in sustainable production and consumption supported by up-to-date knowledge of sector issues.
- Understanding of research methodology and the rigor of certification and standard setting.
- Effective board management skills.
