**The opportunity**

Silverchain is seeking a **Research Fellow** to manage two research projects designed to improve the care provided older people in the home and to support their mental health. These projects involve the implementation of a new program to reduce loneliness among home care recipients and foundational research to understand how to optimise in-home aged care services for older people with complex mental health issues.

The **Research Fellow** will join a supportive multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians implementing a broad aged mental health and wellbeing program. The research will inform new models of care and be rapidly translated into routine practices at one of Australia’s largest home care providers. This program is conducted in partnership with several academic partners and embedded within an organisation that strongly supports research and innovation.

The **Research Fellow** can be based at a Silverchain office in Perth, Adelaide or Melbourne. The team follows a hybrid work structure, working remotely or from the office, as needed. Some travel may be required to collect research data.

**Key responsibilities**

The **major accountabilities** for the role of **Research Fellow**are:

- Day-to-day management of research projects related to mental health and wellbeing of aged care recipients.
- Oversee data collection and analysis, including robust analysis of qualitative data.
- Supervision and mentorship of research assistants.
- Communicate research findings though preparation of high-quality publications, presentations, and reports.

**About you**

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

- PhD or professional doctoral qualification in a health, public health or social science discipline.
- Mental health training and experience is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working as a researcher in an aged care, mental health or other health care setting.
- Expertise in qualitative research methods, as demonstrated through published journal articles and other outputs.
- A strong record of academic publications, commensurate with level of experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating with a range of health care or aged care providers and collecting data from diverse research participants.
- Experience mentoring or supervising others is desirable.
