**Join the Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee**:
The Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee (MUHREC) is seeking _volunteer members_
to review research involving human participants and ensure their welfare and rights are protected.

**We are looking for individuals in the following categories**:

- **Pastoral Care**: Community leaders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders,
chaplains, or ministers of religion.
- **Community Members**: People with a broader community perspective who have no paid ties to
Monash University.

**What to expect**
- Appointments will last for an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal.
- A commitment to attending 8 meetings per year, plus additional follow-up reviews and training
sessions.

**What you bring**
- Effective interpersonal and computer skills.
- Ability to read large documents within a required timeframe.

**Responsibilities**
- Familiarity with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research
- Review research proposals for ethical compliance
- Attend at least 75% of the committee meetings
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
