
Casual Disability Support Worker

**Immediate shifts available: Inactive sleepover 10pm-6am, active support 6am-10am**
Step As One Disability Services is seeking an experienced Disability Support who has clear English language skills (and preferaby female as requested by the participant). This position is specifically to support a male living in Mt Martha, with inactive sleepovers/active morning shifts available 6 days per week. Shifts on offer will be sleepover component from 10pm-6am with active support to be provided from 6am-10am to assist the participant with his morning routine/showering/breakfast etc.
As this role requires communication with an NDIS participant who has a cognitive disability and non verbal communication, ability to communicate clearly in English is essential.
**Support Worker Position Description **(but not limited to):
- Support the NDIS participant with his morning routine.
- Work in accordance with Step As One Disability Services' medication administration policy, work health and safety procedures and participant right's policies including privacy and confidentiality.
- Monitor the safety and well-being of the participant
- Ensure detailed completion of appropriate documentation such as participant progress notes, incident reports and goal attainment using the Client Management System
- Undertake relevant participant specific and mandatory training modules as required to maintain NDIS practice competency requirement
- Take reasonable care for his or her own health and safety.
- Report any quality and safety incident or hazards at work immediately to the Practice Lead.
- Carry out their roles and responsibilities as detailed in the relevant policies and processes.
**Qualifications - preferred**
- Cert IV Disability, Community Services or similar or relevant tertiary qualifications
- Current NDISWC
- Working with Children Check.
- First Aid certificate and CPR
- NDIS Workers Orientation (or willing to complete)
- Medication administration competency
**Competencies and experience**
- Clear, fluent written and verbal English language skills (mandatory)
- Experience working with adults who present withAutism Spectrum Disaorder display (mandatory)
- Genuine passion for the field of work (mandatory)
- Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal supervision (mandatory)
- Strong engagement, enthusiasm and reliability (mandatory)
- Experience with medication administration (preferred)
- Understanding of Behaviour Support implementation and restrictive practices (mandatory)

Pay: $40.00 - $44.00 per hour
