**THE ROLE**

This role leads the HSE function for the Generation Asset Development and Construction Team - covering circa 2500-3000 employees, contractors and service providers. This position is responsible for providing strategic Health, Safety & Environment leadership and management for Origin’s major renewable projects and developments to support the energy transition.

The role primarily partners with and provides support to BU leadership teams including GM’s and Group Managers to develop and execute the strategic HSE direction and plans for the BU to achieve HSE best practice, compliance requirements and specific BU improvement needs.

This role drives a strong connection between the Origin business strategy and the Origin HSE Strategy, and partners significantly with our contracting partners. This role collaborates closely with the wider HSE function, in particular the Group Manager Generation HSEC to ensure a One Team, One Origin across BU and Origin more broadly.

This role will also be responsible for:

- Lead BU Health, Safety and Environment management and support the relevant BU General Managers, including provision of specialist HSE knowledge and advice
- Partner with the BU Leadership Team to set the BU strategic direction and plans to achieve HSE best practice, culture, compliance and improvement for construction and development projects.
- Drive HSE performance improvement especially in partnering with our contractors and safety in design for major projects and development
- Lead and drive execution of HSE strategy, plans and risk mitigation initiatives and activities across Development and Construction projects
- Ensure provision of specialist HSE knowledge, advice, and support especially in the context of construction and working with contractors and liaise with relevant regulators
- Prepare executive and board level reports
- Identify opportunities and lead initiatives to promote a stronger HSE connection with Origin’s contractors
- Maintain HSE compliance and assurance programs across construction and development projects
- Oversee incident investigation, HSE audits and ensure learning outcomes
- Analyse performance data and identify insights to drive evidence-based actions and initiatives
- Build an engaged, inclusive, and high performing multi-disciplinary team
- Leverage support from the broader Origin HSE community and external stakeholders in line with the HSE operating model
- Develop and maintain external working relationships with relevant industry bodies and forums to promote HSE outcomes in construction and development projects

**IS THIS YOU?**

We are looking for a senior leader who has 10-15 years experience working in construction management with significant exposure to HSE on site. Your strong influencing and relationship management skills will help you perform well in this role.

**You will have**:

- Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety / Environmental Science/ Risk Management or other relevant technical qualification including construction or project management
- Significant experience, with construction management
- Experience directly and indirectly leading large multi-disciplinary teams with ability to engage, coach, motivate and influence
- Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change through all levels of an organisation
- Demonstrated ability to coach and influence senior stakeholders, including group managers, general managers and executive general managers
- Knowledge of applicable HSE legislation
