Asset Investigation Officer

The incumbent will provide a high level of customer service and investigation into a wide
range of operational matters for civil assets across the Blue Mountains Local Government
area.
The position will provide technical and operational support with a key focus on:
- Completion of inspections/audits for civil infrastructure and provide reports within
relevant timeframes for the scheduling of maintenance and works.
- Ensure all high-risk maintenance requests are given a high priority to ensure that the
area is made safe and works scheduled.
- Ensure that the Council’s Customer Service Charter is adhered to in responding to all
internal and external customers.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct and complete cyclic inspection programs and assessment of infrastructure
assets including data collection.
- Investigate and deal with customer service requests/complaints preparing reports with
recommendations as required.
- Investigate and report matters pertaining to work improvements (safety or other)
carrying out corrective action.
- Execute escalation of urgent/high priority requests to relevant authority or staff
member for delivery of works.
- Maintain records of inspections, as required, and assist in providing updated
information for Councils Asset Register.
- To respond in a professional and courteous manner to inquiries, public complaints,
and requests with regards to matters relating to a wide range of Council services with
a specific emphasis on civil infrastructure
- Liaise and negotiate with public utility authorities, government authorities, private
organisations, property owners, community groups and other stakeholders related to
Council’s civil assets.
- Respond to urgent high-risk requests and ensure that the area is made safe by
removing the risk or making safe and reporting the works to be completed.
- To ensure the documentation of all relevant issues using Council’s document
management system and data collection electronic platforms
- To ensure that customer service requests are actioned within corporate customer
service standards and timeframes.
- Provide input to enable a system of proactive maintenance through cyclic inspection
programs.
- Identify areas that require maintenance through systematic and prioritized inspection
programs and audits.
- Assist with providing information into capital planning, lifecycle analysis and asset
management planning.
- Triage of customer service requests including marking out works on sites, quantity
assessment, estimating, or providing technical advice.
- Conduct proactive cyclic barricade inspections for sites awaiting maintenance works.
- Participate in relief and recovery activities as reasonably required within the
municipality during and after an emergency event.
