Heidelberg, Australia Austin Health Full time

**Reference Number**:2567

**Category**:Allied Health

**Department**:Nutrition and Dietetics

**_Are you a current Austin Health employee? _**
- **Great opportunity for an experienced Grade 2 Dietitian with a passion for working in rehabilitation**
- **Fixed term, part time role working 32 hours per week until 31 December 2025**
- **Primary location Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre in Kew**
- **Pay range $47.81 to $54.10 per hour + salary packaging + super + higher qualification allowance if applicable.**
- Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north-east of Melbourne and state-wide. We have a highly engaged, diverse and collaborative workforce that is unified by our goal to help people live healthy and fulfilled lives.

**About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department**
- We are part of the Allied Health division, which employs over 1,000 health professionals across 27 disciplines, broadly known as the therapies and sciences, who work as key members of the multidisciplinary team aiming to provide the best outcomes for patients via preventing, diagnosing and treating a range of healthcare conditions.
- The Nutrition and Dietetics department has around 50 staff members across three sites - Austin (acute care), Repat (sub-acute care) and Talbot (rehabilitation), providing services to inpatients, outpatients and home & community programs. We operate as one department and come together for staff meetings and continuing education. Our work environment is vibrant and fast paced and we are a friendly and supportive team. We have many highly skilled and experienced dietitians who lead our clinical teams (specialist medicine, oncology, surgical/ICU/gastro, paediatrics and mental health, sub-acute and ambulatory care), and department-wide portfolios (staff education, quality, research, student training, food service, nutrition support, workforce).

**About the role**
- You will be based at Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre in Kew and will be one of two dietitians on this site. Between you, you will cover the four inpatient wards, seeing patients under neurology, amputee, orthopaedics, general rehabilitation, spinal, acquired brain injury and brain disorders. You will be working collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary teams. Other components of your workload may include home-based programs and outpatient clinics, and you may need to travel cross campus to the Repatriation Centre and Austin hospital in Heidelberg. You will also be involved in supporting students on clinical placements by assisting and covering the primary supervisor. You will have a high degree of responsibility and will need to be comfortable working autonomously. Your workload may vary over time to meet operational needs and to ensure cross training.
- You will be part of the sub-acute clinical stream across Talbot and Repat, led by a Grade 3 Dietitian based at Repatriation Centre in Heidelberg. You will also be supported by an additional Grade 3 Dietitian with expertise across all Talbot work areas.
- You will be working 32 hours/week, which can be done across four or five days. You will have opportunity to do extra hours if we have gaps in leave cover or vacant hours to fill.

**About you**
- You will have excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
- You’ll further have:

- Sound clinical nutrition knowledge in rehabilitation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple caseloads (including cover), work autonomously and navigate complex situations with creative problem solving and trouble shooting.
- Experience and interest in student training.
- Experience working with NDIS (desirable but not essential).
- Valid Driver’s Licence (essential)

**Application Documents required**:

- Cover letter, resume and proof of dietetic qualifications.

**Our benefits**
- Working at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose, engaging in meaningful work every day. Our people also receive a variety of rewarding benefits, including:

- Greater take-home pay through generous salary packaging for living expenses, meals, and holiday accommodation
- A suite of wellness initiatives designed to support you, including discounts on fitness memberships and health insurance, and a comprehensive wellbeing program
- Mentoring and career development opportunities
- Onsite childcare, easy access via public transport, car parking and end of journey facilities for cyclists
