**About the Role**:
West Coast Care are seeking a compassionate and dedicated **Support Worker** to provide high-quality, person-centred care for a **young man with autism and behaviours of concern**. As a **Support Worker**, you will play a vital role in building a strong and trusting relationship, assisting with daily living activities, promoting community engagement, and implementing positive behaviour support strategies. You will work closely with the individual, his family, and a multidisciplinary team to ensure his needs are met in a safe, structured, and encouraging environment.

**This role is ideal for someone who is patient, understanding, and passionate about making a real difference in someone's life.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide consistent, compassionate, and tailored support to meet his individual needs.
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Implement positive behaviour support strategies to manage behaviours of concern in a safe and proactive manner.
- Support community participation, helping him engage in social and recreational activities.
- Foster a structured and enabling environment that encourages skill development and independence.
- Work collaboratively with family members and other professionals to maintain a person-centered approach.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with the support team.

**Essential Requirements**:
**Experience working with individuals with autism and behaviours of concern.**

**Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and de-escalation techniques.**

**Strong communication and interpersonal skills.**

**Patience, empathy, and a commitment to promoting independence.**

**Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations**

**Willingness to undergo relevant training.**

**The ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English is crucial to support the individual's specific needs**

**COVID-19 Vaccination** - Fully vaccinated (all 3 doses required)
**NDIS Worker Clearance** (mandatory)
**Current First Aid & CPR Certificate** (Valid)
**Driver’s License & Reliable Vehicle** (Willing to travel)
**Cert III or higher** in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, Mental Health, or similar
**NDIS Commission & Safeguard Certificates** (4 online training modules)
**Strong communication & documentation skills**
**Commitment to person-centered care**

**Must be able to communicate clearly and confidently in English**

**Preferred (but not essential)**: Influenza vaccine

**Desirable**:

- Cert III in individual support, disability services or similar
- The ability to swim
