Job Title: Head Barista

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Barista to join our team at a specialty coffee shop. As the Head Barista, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the coffee bar, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining high-quality standards in coffee preparation. Your expertise and leadership will contribute to creating a memorable coffee experience for our customers.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Coffee Preparation: Prepare and serve a variety of specialty coffee beverages, including espresso-based drinks, pour-overs, and alternative brewing methods, while maintaining consistency and adhering to established recipes and quality standards.

2. Staff Training and Development: Train and mentor baristas in coffee preparation techniques, drink recipes, customer service, and overall coffee knowledge. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to encourage growth and skill development.

3. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and engaging customers, answering their questions, and making personalized recommendations based on their preferences. Ensure a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all patrons.

4. Quality Control: Monitor and maintain the quality and consistency of coffee beverages, including espresso shots, milk texture, brewing parameters, and latte art. Conduct regular taste tests to ensure exceptional flavor profiles.

5. Inventory Management: Manage coffee bean inventory, track supplies, and place orders in a timely manner to ensure adequate stock levels. Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality coffee beans and other ingredients.

6. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the proper functioning and cleanliness of coffee equipment, such as espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other related tools. Schedule regular maintenance and coordinate repairs when necessary.

7. Menu Development: Collaborate with the management team to create and refine the coffee menu, introducing new specialty beverages, seasonal offerings, and innovative brewing methods to enhance the customer experience.

8. Operational Efficiency: Optimize workflow and productivity behind the coffee bar, ensuring efficient service during peak hours. Develop and implement standard operating procedures to streamline processes and maintain consistent service.

9. Health and Safety Compliance: Follow and enforce health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, cleanliness, and sanitation practices. Ensure all baristas adhere to these standards.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience as a barista in a specialty coffee shop or a similar environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in coffee preparation techniques, including espresso, pour-over, and alternative brewing methods.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to train and motivate a team.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with coffee bean varieties, origins, and flavor profiles.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in the food and beverage industry.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Casual

Pay: From $32.25 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 35 per week
