**About the Role**
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Regulatory Services team as a Ranger. The primary focus of this role is to provide, in a professional manner, an efficient and effective regulatory and enforcement service to the community ensuring compliance that meets the provision of applicable Acts, regulations and other statutory requirements. Work hours spread over seven (7) days, Monday to Sunday on a rotational roster, including after-hours call outs and required public holidays.
**What you will be doing**:
- Predominately conduct regular routine parking patrols of car parks, roads and school zones, issue infringement notices. Operate licence plate recognition vehicle.
- Enforce legislative requirements in relation to unattended/unregistered motor vehicles, articles, signs, obstructions/encroachments on Council property. Carry out patrols of public spaces/Council reserves.
- Investigate, assess, determine and resolve customer service requests, enquiries and complaints in a timely customer focused and professional manner, in compliance with and meeting the provisions of applicable Acts, regulations & other statutory requirements.
- Enforce the regulatory aspects of the Companion Animals Act and regulations, competently handle animals.
- Prepare Statement of Basic Facts, contentions, and briefs of evidence, attend Court as required.
- Investigate asset defects, litter, pollution and illegal dumping incidents and offences as and when required.
- Monitor development, building and subdivision sites, carry out heavy vehicle patrols as and when required.
- Participate in community education programs across a range of enforcement activities
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Diploma/Certificate IV (Ranger) in Local Government or another relevant discipline or relevant 2 - 5 years industry experience;
- Experience in Court procedures, law enforcement or Local Government law enforcement procedures (2-5 years);
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Local Government Act, Companion Animals Act, Public Spaces Unattended Property Act & Australian Road Rules, Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, the Protection of the Environment Operations Act & other Acts/legislation;
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with customer with an ability to solve protracted enquiries (2-5 years);
- Ability to competently and effectively handle and control animals;
- Demonstrated competent computer literacy skills
- Understanding & ability to interpret Local Government Act, Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, Protection of Environment Operations Act & all legislation, practices & Standards (1 - 2 years);
- Class C Motor Vehicle Licence.
**Position details**:
Permanent full-time role, S0292 Salary: starting from $73K + Superannuation + To and From Council Vehicle.
