Craftsperson - Timber Erection Specialists IJ Projects Adelaide Job profile IJ Projects are currently seeking experienced Timber Erection/Carpentry Specialists (6 Master Craftsperson) with experience in Miyadaiku construction techniques to join our team. The role will be reporting in to the Site Manager and responsible for the erection of an iconic Buddhist Temple in Adelaide's South(Nan Hai Pu Tuo Temple). Make and assemble the main hall of the temple using traditional Chinese ancient building techniques (mortise-tenon structure, without a single nail). The processed rough wood is processed into fine structural piece with precision and installed, including the tenon hole on the wooden column, the tenon head of the wooden beam, the bucket arch, the ancient wooden component, etc. to have the columns, beams and arches connected at the time of construction to complete the temple. Job duties and responsibilities
- Read and understand drawings and technical specifications
- Execute measuring activities
- Cut mortises on wood pieces and make wood pieces into the shape such as bucket arch or other ancient wooden components required;
- Make solid wood panel doors, mullion windows, partition walls, roof rafters, etc. of mortise-tenon structure;
- Assemble beams, rafters, columns, buckets, arches, doors, windows, walls, roof rafters, etc. using the mortise-tenon structure for connection;
- Install other components according to design requirements; Job requirements and qualifications
- Experience in Tang Dynasty construction is essential
- Over 5 years of related work experience in ancient architecture and woodwork in temples or palaces;
- Participated in at least 1 project of wooden structure ancient building with a single building construction area of over 800 square meters;
- Able to make and assemble Tang-style bucket arch with 1 assemble of mortisetenon structure independently;
- Mastered and able to use traditional ancient woodworking tools, such as hand saw, axe, planer (long pusher, short planer), chisel (inch chisel, flat chisel, oblique chisel, round chisel), hammer (iron hammer), curved ruler, ink fountain, etc.
- Able to skillfully use various electric tools (electric saws, electric planers, electric drills, etc,);
- Able to read blueprints and technical drawings;
- Familiar with the general construction process and requirements of this type of work, especially a deep understanding of wooden temple buildings;
- Hard working, proactive, able to understand and follow the arrangements of superiors Salary range: $86,000.00-$93,000.00
