**About this Role**
Latrobe City Council is offering an excellent opportunity for someone to join our Tree Maintenance Team as a Trainee Arborist to commence employment in March 2025 with formal study for a Certificate III Arboriculture (EWP Aborist) to commence in April 2025. This is two-year fixed term position.
In this role you will assist with performing specialised arboriculture activities on Council managed tree assets across the community whilst you study and work towards gaining your Certificate III in Arboriculture.
Duties include:
- Learning arboriculture techniques, tree health, performing remedial works, and the use of required tools and equipment.
- Working as part of a team to assist across any area of the municipality with maintenance operations when and where work priorities demand, helping to achieve the overall maintenance objectives of the City Presentation Business Unit.
- To study and work towards gaining the Certificate III in Arboriculture qualification in the expected time frame.
- Participation in the Latrobe City Council performance plan development plan (PDP) and assessment process.
**About You**
As Trainee Arborist you will have the fantastic opportunity to learn and develop your arboriculture skills and knowledge with hands-on training and guided support from your team as you complete your studies.
To be successful in this position you must have:
- Eligibility to undertake a Certificate III in Arboriculture (You MUST be 18 years of age or older to enrol in this course).
- Commitment, initiative and enthusiasm for the role, including an interest in Arboriculture.
- Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
- Ability to work productively as a member of team and contribute to team goals.
- Current Victorian Driver’s License (or working towards obtaining).
- Construction induction Card and Current First Aid (preferred)
