- Demonstrated experience in assessing, conceptualising and analysing wellbeing issues, and providing evidence-based direct counselling for a range of mental health issues.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing evidence-based intervention strategies for clients with complex needs.
- Demonstrated ability to input into the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and strategies relating to mental health and wellbeing.
- Highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people.
- Ability to provide leadership and professional learning that informs and influences the work of others involved in the engagement and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Clear understanding of legislative requirements regarding privacy of health information.

**Role**:
No attendance required during school vacation periods.

Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employees position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

- Provide high quality student support services to students experiencing wellbeing difficulties at school, home or out in the community.
- Establish good relationships with students, acting as a role model and responding to the needs of each individual child with empathy and understanding.
- Provide effective support for all students including those that present with anxiety and depression, learning disabilities or experiences of trauma.
- Coordinate and participate in Care Team Meetings, where appropriate.
- Maintain links with Student Support Services, school networks and relevant support agencies and liaise with community service organisations, DHHS Child protection, hospitals, specialist programs and other professionals regarding the support needs for students and schools.
- Make referrals to appropriate agencies for students and families, when needed.
- Consult with families about their child¿s needs and the interventions to address those needs.
- Keep thorough, extensive and confidential case notes to create transparency and accountability while following the college¿s communication processes.
- Assist families to access appropriate relief agencies e.g. State School Relief.
- Provide feedback and advice to staff on the wellbeing of students referred within the relevant privacy laws.
- Support the development of social and emotional educational programs, such as Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships.
- Respond effectively to critical incidents through the implementation of DET and school policies and procedures, e.g. Mandatory Reporting, Four Critical Actions for Schools and Child Safe Standards.
- Collaborate and be an active participant within the College Wellbeing Team to promote a whole school approach to wellbeing and a secure and safe learning environment.
- Promote cooperative working relationships within a team environment.
- Effectively coordinate all wellbeing services and appointments that occur within the school environment.
- Plan and implement evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs including collaborating with families, other professionals and agencies, when appropriate.
- Provide advice and professional learning to staff, to build capacity.
- Collaborate closely with other school leaders regarding support strategies and educational pathways.
- Support teachers to understand and respond to student wellbeing needs.
- Attend all other meetings at the discretion of the Campus Principal.
