- **About the opportunity**
- At Blacktown Arts, we walk alongside our First Nations Elders, knowledge holders, broader communities of artists, partners, and collaborators in our shared vision of creative and cultural experiences being part of everyone’s daily lives. A deep sense of culture, place and people sits at the heart of everything we do.
- We are seeking a Curator Performance to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is central to delivering a vibrant performing arts program that provides opportunities for local artist development, community engagement, and audience development.
- Working closely with the Coordinator Programming and our dynamic programming team, you will develop, implement and manage contemporary performance initiatives that reflect the diversity and spirit of Blacktown. You will also play a key role in shaping cultural strategy and supporting the care and activation of The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre, our vibrant home for artistic expression and community engagement.
- **Qualifications and experience**
- **Essential**:
- Tertiary qualification in a related field
- Solid working experience in performing arts across 2 or more disciplines
- Demonstrated capacity to work productively with artists and communities from a range of cultural backgrounds, within a local government framework
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets
- Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills
- Demonstrated computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office suite
- Proven capacity to work in a high-pressure team environment with competing demands
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Current class C driver’s licence.
**Remuneration and benefits**
- The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.- Entry level for this position starts at $1,861.14 per week
- 35-hour working week
- Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
