**About the role**
Reporting to the National HSEQ Manager, you will lead the HSE operational support team to execute accurate and consistent technical HSE advice and provide coverage across all of the Neumann Steel sites.

You will facilitate and execute the company’s operational level HSE legal and compliance outcomes, coordinate HSE risk management practices including policy, procedural, and risk assessment reviews, internal audits, incident reporting and investigation, fire and emergency management/ planning, company induction and training, and coordination and delivery of HSE-related projects.

**Key responsibilities**
- Lead an effective HSE team providing consistent and accurate advice and support across all sites.
- Support, empower, and mentor leaders across all sites to increase and enhance their awareness of all HSE-related matters.
- Oversee the coordination of Fire Safety Management and Emergency Management & Planning
- Preparation and submission of all annual occupier statements, and maintenance of site emergency plans and high/low occupancy plans across the company.
- Chair the company HSR Committee meetings as per the set schedule.
- Assist department lead investigators with timely incident reporting and quality incident investigation standards to ensure detail, accuracy, completion, and effective identification of corrective action and prevention measures
- Oversee and maintain effective hazardous chemical management and asbestos management plans for the company.
- Lead, mentor, and empower HSE-related inspections, task observations, and safety walk activities.
- Lead the Nemasys Safety pillar, and assist the Environment & Sustainability Specialist where reasonably necessary for achieving Nemasys Environment pillar and operational-level internal audit outcomes.
- Lead the safety internal audit program and internal audit activities for ISO assurance.
- Oversee the effectiveness of company operational induction and training procedures and processes and administer the approved training needs analysis (for both internal and externally delivered HSE-related training).
- Coordinate the development and assigning of internal HSE-related training packages (e-learning).
- Contribute to identifying HSE improvement opportunities and take the lead by initiating consultative policy and procedure reviews as required.
- Assist to develop and review risk assessments, SWMS, and JSEA’s and facilitate operational risk register workshops/reviews.
- Regularly attend and provide input into department toolbox meetings and other HSE-related meetings.
- Assist with collating and distributing HSE-related reports and analyse trends and statistics for supporting department action plans/initiatives.
- Carry out other duties as reasonably required/requested.
- Minimum Level - Diploma in WHS
- Environmental experience, and demonstrated environmental legislative knowledge and understanding
- Highly organised, proactive, and solutions focussed
- Experience in leading incident investigations using methodologies (e.g. ICAM)
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and problem-solving skills
- C Class driver’s licence
- Current Fire Safety Advisor (FSA) certification
- AIHS registered or certified member
- Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
- Proven history of activities that achieve team, business and customer satisfaction
- Previous experience in the steel reinforcing industry
- Injury management understanding
- Drug & alcohol testing in the workplace competency
- Cert IV TAE (Trainer and Assessor)
