About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) delivers high quality services to Victorians to provide a justice and community safety system that works together to build a safer, fairer, and stronger Victoria.
The Regional Services Network (RSN) is a division of the DJCS with approximately 4,000 staff across four state-wide areas and corresponding regions.
The Northwest Metropolitan Area (NWMA) of the RSN comprises of a dynamic, multicultural, urban, and semi-rural environment which accounts for approximately 33% of Victoria's population. The NWMA of the RSN is responsible for providing the community with an integrated and accessible set of justice services.

About the Role
The Regional Officer, Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) will conduct a range of routine and sometimes more complex compliance monitoring activities and inspections as authorised under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act, and other legislation administered by CAV. Also, the Regional Officer CAV will carry out residential tenancy investigations including rental assessments and non-urgent repairs. Further the regional Officer CAV, will perform front line dispute resolution, provide business and community education and lead or coordinate CAV campaign initiatives

**Some of your duties may include**:

- Conduct a range of routine and sometimes more compliance monitoring activities and inspections
- Carry out residential tenancy investigations including rental assessments and non-urgent repairs
- Respond to enquiries, perform front line dispute resolution, and deliver CAV educational campaign initiatives
- Participate in and contribute to aspects of an ongoing compliance program, including local planning and development of compliance activities and their implementation.
- Be prepared to be appointed as an Inspector under the Australian Consumer Law & Fair-Trading Act and be delegated as an Inspector under the Residential Tenancies Act.
- Using standardised tools, carry out routine, straightforward and sometimes more complex inspections as authorised under the Australian Consumer Law & Fair-Trading Act and the Residential Tenancies Act, including obtaining evidence and the preparation of routine reports as directed. This can include remote (or virtual) inspections.

Qualifications/Requirments
- A Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent qualification will be required to be obtained within 12 months of commencing in the role.
- A current Victorian Driver's Licence is required.
