Join City of Moreton Bay as a **Principal Disaster Recovery Officer**, and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.

The Disaster Management team at City of Moreton Bay is responsible for **developing and implementing our local disaster management plan** during severe weather and other disaster events, as well as delivering recovery and resilience-building functions to our community.

As the Principal Disaster Recovery Officer, you’ll be focused on the ongoing **development of Council’s disaster recovery policies**, strategies, plans, procedures, and documentation to align with **sector best practices**, and maintain strong relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholders to support recovery and resilience-building objectives across our region. Other activities include:

- Integrating community engagement and capacity-building activities into resilience planning, alongside the Principal Disaster Management & Engagement Officer
- Raising awareness and assisting all local government partners in prioritising critical objectives detailed in the Local Disaster and Recovery Plans, and aligning activities with the broader strategic goals of Councils long-term strategies
- Developing and sustaining Council’s recovery capability and fostering a work environment of participation, teamwork, innovation, and excellence
- Providing analysis and expert advice to Moreton Bay Local Disaster Management and Recovery Groups
- Managing the budget within the delegations of this position
- Participating in the Moreton Recovery Group and On Call arrangements, as required.

**About you**

We’re looking for a disaster management and recovery specialist, used to leading a small team to deliver projects with a community development approach, and producing the associated reporting to various levels of government. You’ll also bring:

- Detailed knowledge of the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements (QDMA) and other relevant statutory requirements
- Excellent people and relationship management skills, with experience working with a wide range of stakeholders from all levels of government, non-government organisations, statutory authorises and community entities
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure, including engaging community members exposed to trauma and direct impacts of disaster
- Tertiary qualification in emergency management or demonstrated relevant experience highly desirable
- Current C class driver’s licence (required).
