PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Medical Receptionist is responsible for the presentation of the practice as it is perceived by the general public, patients, Specialists, Doctors, Nurses & Allied Health.
SCOPE
The Medical Receptionist attends to patients on the phone and in person. They are responsible for co
- ordinating and organising patient appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the front office of the medical practice. The position exists to support and work in consultation with
Management and Medical practitioners in ensuring that the management of the practice is professional and delivers quality care.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
1. Financial Management
- Ensure all patient accounts are billed efficiently and accurately and then lodged with the relevant body for payment.
- Batch and lodge Medicare and DVA accounts online.
- Manage all Workers Compensation and third party accounts.
2. Practice
- Greet patients
- Ensure customer service experience is a rewarding experience for all patients
- Monitor Jayex system
- Ensure patient information is accurate including billing information
- Maintain and manage patient records
- Schedule patient appointments
- Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries
- Complete any faxing, photocopying, data entry as required
- Attend practice staff meetings when required
- Ensure waiting areas are kept clean and tidy
- Ensure reception area is well maintained, neat and clean

- Ensure stationary supplies are available at the main desk and in consulting rooms. This includes letterhead, business cards, pathology request pads and brochures etc.
- Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
- Ensure all reporting is completed in a timely manner
- Complete other administrative duties as directed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Knowledge:
Must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- Previous medical reception experience
- Medical practice software experience
- Medicare and Health Funds
**Skills**:Must demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience working with Doctors, Specialists and Allied Health professionals
- Excellent verbal, analytical and organisational skills
- Excellent presentation and telephone skillset
- Good understanding of medical practice structures
- Ability to work unsupervised and to delegate duties in a professional manner
- Knowledge of relevant legislation
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and IT systems
- Attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
- Time Management skills

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 22.5 per week
**Salary**: From $24.47 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Afternoon shift
- Morning shift
- Public holidays
- Weekend availability
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Central Coast Gosford NSW: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
