We are currently seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join one of our clients as a Harbour Manager. As the Harbour Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing and managing all aspects of their harbor operations. If you have a strong background in maritime management, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for driving operational excellence, we want to hear from you
**Responsibilities**:
- Oversee and manage all activities and operations within the harbor, ensuring the safe, efficient, and smooth functioning of the port.
- Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures to optimize harbor operations and achieve organizational goals.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain effective communication and coordination across all harbor activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable maritime regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
- Manage and coordinate the scheduling of vessel arrivals, departures, and harbor resources, optimizing berth utilization and minimizing turnaround times.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellence among harbor staff, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Monitor and analyze harbor performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with port service providers, including stevedores, terminal operators, and tugboat operators.
- Manage the harbor budget, tracking expenditures, and ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in harbor management.
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in a relevant field.
**Technical, Professional and Specialist Skills**
- Demonstrated leadership qualities.
- High level of analytical and report writing skills.
- Extensive knowledge of Port or Marine Operations or heavy industry facility.
- Extensive budget management skills.
- High level negotiation skills, including enterprise agreements.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills.
- Project management skills.
- Experience in managing operations and staff to achieve required outcomes.
- Sound understanding of Occupational Health & Safety principles and practices.
- Demonstrated experience in handling employee relations issues.
- Champion for culture change.
