Join us to deliver a new forestry advisory service across the motu, providing valuable insights and advice to landowners and our forestry sector.
We have two Forestry Service Adviser roles available which can be based in Whangarei or Gisborne.
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
As a Forestry Service Adviser, you will be responsible for providing advice to landowners and the forestry sector to maximise the benefit of our forests, encourage afforestation and support sustainable land use management.
You'll work alongside senior advisers in partnership with landowners and organisations like regional councils to support capability building in others, provide advice on the benefits of trees, increase regulatory awareness with various stakeholders, and provide quality information on TUR-NZFS's work programmes.
**Your key responsibilities for this role will include**:
- Providing information, insights and advice on forests and forestry activity across all stages of the forest lifecycle
- Connecting participants within regions or ecosystems to foster collaboration and innovation within forestry.
- Supporting Te Uru Rākau - New Zealand Forest Service in local engagement and outreach activities
- Developing and utilising collaborative working relationships within MPI's integrated advisory service network to increase the breadth and reach of our support
Mōu - About You
You will also have experience across the forestry lifecycle, understand what forestry best practice looks like and have the ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Importantly, you will have excellent communication skills including the ability to prepare high quality advice (written and verbal) and credibly represent interests.
