
Rehabilitation Counsellor

We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our dynamic team. Proficiency in languages such as Dari, Hazaragi, and Farsi is required, along with expertise in working with CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) families, as our services cater to a diverse client base.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide counselling sessions to individuals and families, addressing emotional, social, and adjustment needs as part of holistic allied health care
- Collaborate with the allied health team to support clients and families during transitions to new educational or community settings, preparing them for changes in routine and communication needs
- Monitor and document client progress, share regular updates with families, and contribute to multidisciplinary assessment and reporting
- Provide insights and guidance on clients' learning and behaviour—particularly for those with additional needs—and support families, educators, and the allied health team in addressing these needs collaboratively
- Supporting clients in education and employment pathways by assessing their communication abilities, personal goals, and individual needs in collaboration with the allied health team
- Facilitate culturally responsive workshops or training sessions for CALD families—providing language support where needed—on positive behaviour strategies and building communication-friendly home environments, in collaboration with the allied health team
- Deliver counselling and guidance to help clients overcome barriers to employment, education, and daily living
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans, working closely with clients, employers, and healthcare providers.
- Monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting plans as needed to ensure successful rehabilitation outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech pathologists, medical professionals, occupational therapists, and employers, to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and ethical standards.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in vocational rehabilitation, disability services, or counselling.
- Relevant experience and/or on-the-job training also required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as Workers’ Compensation, NDIS, or employment services.
A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to meet with clients and stakeholders (if required).
Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
