
Risk & Compliance Specialist

This is an exceptional role for an individual with a strong background in Product Safety / Quality / Compliance in a Retail or Product driven / Private Label environment to launch their eCommerce career with a leading, ASX listed eCommerce business.
**In this role you'll be responsible for**:
- Acting as a first point of contact and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for product safety or regulatory queries and matters
- Ensuring company products, policies and documentation are compliant with Australian regulations
- Proactively identify and manage potential risks to the business through regular audits, ensuring up to date industry trends and recalls, and working with the business on recommendations and resolutions
- Assessing and reviewing of all imported and domestic goods for compliance against all relevant Australian regulations and regulatory bodies, including but not limited to; Australian Consumer Law, Trade Measurement, Safety, ACCC, ACMA and relevant Government bodies
- When required, developing and implementing compliance programs and policies tailored to Australian laws and regulations, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and industry best practices
- Provide training and education as the SME across the standards and relevant requirements
- Support with ESG, Modern Slavery and Ethical Sourcing reporting and requirements
- Provide training and education to team members on compliance and quality when required
**To be successful in this role, you should be**:
- University Degree qualified in a relevant field
- Experienced in product compliance and quality, preferably within an eCommerce, Retail or FMCG environment
- Strong knowledge of Australian laws, regulations, and industry standards relevant to the retail sector, including consumer protection laws, safety regulations, and competition laws
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to assess complex situations, identify potential risks, and develop appropriate mitigation strategies aligned with Australian legal requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders and communicate compliance requirements to employees at all levels of the organization
- Able to work autonomously with exceptional attention to detail and time management
- Committed to fostering a culture of understanding and awareness of compliance and quality
