Nepean Lung & Sleep is a NATA accredited facility for sleep and respiratory disorders. We are looking for a friendly, motivated and energetic individual to join our sleep team This role is fullfilling and rewarding as you will help patients on their journey to improve their sleep and respiratory health. You will be given all the training and support on the job by our qualified sleep scientists. As a sleep technician there will be some overnight shifts that are required where we perform laboratory based sleep testing procedures.

Day shift hours: (Mon - Fri) 8:00am - 4:30pm
Night Shift hours: 7:00pm - 7:00am (scheduled as required)

Further details of the role include:
Sleep study set-up (overnight in the laboratory and home sleep studies)
- Collect necessary morphological data and documentation.
- Correctly explain the ordered procedure to the patient.
- Set-up and use appropriate equipment and montages for both laboratory and home sleep tests.
- Calibrate the testing equipment.
- Perform positive airway pressure (PAP) interface fitting.

Polysomnographic monitoring
- Perform physiological and equipment calibrations.
- Follow Nepean Lung and Sleep’s procedural protocols.
- Perform and document observations including clinical events, changes in procedure and other significant events.
- Continuously monitor study-tracing quality.
- Demonstrate proficiency in recognising different sleep stages and clinical events.
- Perform PAP titrations.
- Verify data integrity and ensure documentation is complete and accurate. Troubleshoot polysomnographic equipment when necessary.
- Perform day time sleep study procedures as required. Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) and Maintanence of Wakefulness Tests (MWT).

Sleep study analysis
- Accurately analyse sleep study data and score appropriate clinical events.
- Generate a report for each study analysed.

PAP troubleshooting
- Use various PAP machines to perform pressure and comfort setting adjustments.
- Perform downloads on various device brands and be able to interpret the data.
- Consult with patients for their PAP therapy (in person and via phone) and confidently troubleshoot and educate patients on the use of their therapy equipment.
- Appropriately schedule follow up appointments to monitor patients therapy.

Administrative/clerical duties
- Have excellent computer and troubleshooting skills. Nepean Lung & Sleep is becoming a paperless clinic and various computing equipment and software is used on a daily basis.
- Prepare laboratory lists and distribute necessary equipment to the labs.
- Ensure registers and logs have been entered to conform to accreditation and company policies.
- Have appropriate management of data and sensitive patient information.
- Have attention to detail for patient information in the clinical records.
- Check valid referrals and documentation for the testing procedures.

The following are the minimum requirements to be considered for this role:

- Current CPR and BLS certification
- Either completed or currently undergoing tertiary education in a Medical/Health science field with components of anatomy and physiology included.
- Excellent aural and written communication skills.
- Holder of a current drivers licence and own or have access to a vehicle

Desired/bonus qualities
- Previous experience in the field of sleep/respiratory.
- Have CPSGT or RPSGT qualification.
