Flying Bark is on the hunt for a 2D FX Artist to work in our Sydney studio

The 2D FX Artist is responsible for animating the visual effects in the Program/s, with a focus on stylised magic, smoke, dust, debris and other elemental effects. Additionally working to, and maintaining, the creative and technical requirements for the effects for the Program/s as required by the VFX Supervisor; and to the production schedule provided by the Production Company.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To produce scene specific and/or reusable frame-by-frame effects animation for the Program/s that fulfils the creative style of the project as advised by the VFX Supervisor, Animation Director and 2D FX Lead.
- Adhere to the stylistic drawing style briefed by the VFX Supervisor, Client and 2D FX Lead.
- Work to quotas and deadlines as briefed by the Production crew.
- Work closely with the Animation team and Compositor to deliver effects that integrate seamlessly into the scenes.
- Completion of creative revisions as requested by the VFX Supervisor and Animation Director in addition to the animation quota;
- Proactively re-use previously created and approved effects, adapting the animation to the perspective and timing of new shots.
- Adhere to the work flow structure of the project with successful adherence and completion of technical tasks, including but not limited to correct labelling of layers, clean and clear structuring of nodes.
- Work cohesively within a team environment and ensure high levels of communication at all times.
- Adhere to the administrative tools used for tracking workflow, input and delivery/output of shots.
- Strong communication and ability to work to a verbal or visual brief, flagging in advance any issues that may impact on successful timely delivery of material or shots to Production and the Supervising crew.
- Ensure all work remains confidential per code of conduct and security forms.

**Key Measures of Success**:

- Excellent ability to create dynamic 2D visual effects for animation that adhere to the style and quality of the show.
- Ability to coordinate with the animation team, Background Artists and Compositors to achieve the best possible result.
- Good sense of effects animation timing.
- Good knowledge of current 2D effects animation techniques.
- Ability to work in a team environment and follow guidance from creative and technical supervisors.
- Ability to maintain a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work to quota.
- Ability to use the Effects Library optimally.
- Ability to take and successfully interpret a verbal or visual creative brief.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to be adaptable, flexible and responsive to changes.

**Skillset**:

- Solid experience with effects animation
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a professional environment.
- Solid experience and understanding of Toon Boom Harmony, After Effects and other effects software in a production based environment.
- Solid knowledge of 2D animation workflows.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to share information in a team environment.
- Passion for animation.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Alexandria, NSW 2015: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
