We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Youth Addiction Support Specialist to join our dedicated team at Mission Australia. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in supporting young people affected by addiction and homelessness.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and empathetic professional to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable youth. As a Senior Youth Addiction Support Specialist, you will work closely with clients, families, and community services to provide holistic support and guidance. Your expertise will focus on case management, brief interventions, counseling, and group facilitation to empower young people to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive assessments and intake processes for allocated young people, identifying their needs and developing personalized support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with service staff to address complex cases or emergency situations, ensuring seamless delivery of support services.
  • Foster strong relationships with specialist AOD and Mental Health services, participating in service meetings and providing resources to promote best practices.
  • Facilitate therapeutic and educational groups, covering AOD, mental health, and wellbeing topics, to equip young people with essential skills and knowledge.
  • Promote AOD information and resources to clients, families, internal staff, external service providers, and the broader community.
Requirements for Success

To excel in this role, you will require:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Social Welfare, Social Science, or Youth Work, or a minimum of three years' experience in a similar position.
  • Demonstrated expertise in case management, assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and working with people experiencing addiction and mental health issues.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth, including knowledge of child and adolescent development and child-safe practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing and data collection.
  • A valid Full Driver Licence with no restrictions.
