
Career Guidance Specialist

This position plays a vital part in supporting students and graduates at UniSC by delivering high-quality career guidance services. The Careers Adviser role involves providing expert advice through one-on-one appointments, events, and resource development to enhance employability skills, promote lifelong learning, and encourage positive educational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver tailored careers appointments to help students make informed decisions about academic and professional pathways;
- Develop and deliver engaging workshops, events, and online resources that foster career development learning and employability;
- Establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, employers, and student groups to co-create relevant initiatives and opportunities;
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment by working closely with colleagues to achieve shared goals and support wellbeing and success for all staff and students.
We are seeking a skilled careers practitioner who is passionate about empowering students to make informed career choices. Your excellent communication skills, interpersonal strengths, and ability to build rapport across diverse student cohorts will enable you to excel in this role.
Requirements- A degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in career guidance (higher education experience would be advantageous);
- Demonstrated ability to apply Career Development Learning principles in individual guidance, resource development, and workshop delivery, aligned with the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners;
- Strong understanding of labour market insights and the diverse experiences of students; ability to incorporate these into career conversations;
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams using a case-managed approach to support student wellbeing and success;
- High level of administration skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to new systems and technologies.
