We are seeking an experienced Assistant Trust Accountant to join our Perpetual Corporate Trust team. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely accounting services for unregistered managed investment schemes (MITs) and securitisation vehicles.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of periodic management accounts and annual financial statements.
- Calculate trust distributions and prepare distribution statements.
- Perform account reconciliations and prepare journals.
- Preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS).
- Assist with the audit of annual financial statements.
- Assist with review of trust tax returns and Annual Investment Income reports.
- Assist with preparation of budgets and liquidity forecasts.
- Respond to accounting enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the Trust Accountants/Senior Trust Accountants and the Senior Accounting Manager on the delivery of Trust accounting services.
- Maintain relationships with clients.
- Provide support to team members, Senior Accounting Manager and General Manager on projects and other key initiatives.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced accounting professional with a strong background in trust accounting and financial services. The ideal candidate will have:
- University accounting degree and studying towards being a qualified accountant (CA or CPA).
- 1 to 2 years experience in chartered accounting firm (required).
- Working knowledge of managed funds and Securitisation would be an advantage.
- Understanding of tax legislation for trusts in Australia would be an advantage.
- Auditing experience would be an advantage.
- Microsoft Word, Excel and Accounting Systems (XERO).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
- Ability to multitask with good time management.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Interest in process optimization.
- Collaborates effectively within a team.
- Eager to learn and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
