Key Role in Our Team

The role of Maintenance Officer/Gardener is crucial to the upkeep and maintenance of our premises.

  • This position involves conducting regular site inspections, ensuring the site is tidy and well-maintained.
  • General maintenance and repairs to buildings and infrastructure are also a key responsibility.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to maintain up-to-date inventory of equipment and adhere to the preventative maintenance program.
  • Horticultural and grounds maintenance tasks will need to be undertaken to maximise seasonal conditions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Regularly inspect the site to ensure it meets our high standards.
  2. Undertake general maintenance and repairs as required.
  3. Keep accurate records of all works conducted.
  4. Maximise seasonal conditions through horticultural and grounds maintenance.
  5. Perform mowing, edging, fertilising, and weeding; clear garden refuse.
  6. Paths, drains, edges maintenance and repair as needed.
  7. Consult with the Retirement Village Manager to undertake repair work and maintenance duties within the village.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Desirable: horticultural knowledge and experience.
  • Desirable: maintenance and/or trade qualification.
  • Experience in general and commercial maintenance.
  • Safe operation of ride-on mowers, gardening equipment, and power tools with adherence to WHS policies.
  • Problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent people and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good time management.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
