Job Title: Database Administrator

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team at Innovate IT Australia. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for managing critical database systems and ensuring high availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Management:
    • Manage and optimize SAP HANA DB and Sybase ASE platforms.
    • Oversee incident and problem management related to databases.
    • Implement and maintain high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and backup strategies.
  • Performance Optimization:
    • Conduct performance tuning and database system optimization.
    • Provide technical expertise to improve database systems.
  • Automation & Scripting:
    • Contribute to automation, scripting, and process improvements for day-to-day operations.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain and organize detailed documentation for all database-related tasks and configurations.
Requirements
  • Core Skills:
    • SAP HANA and Sybase ASE administration, including installation, upgrades, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security.
    • Proficiency in Linux.
    • Experience with HA/DR strategies, system copies, and replication.
    • Exposure to automation tools or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell).
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • SAP HANA Certification or other database platform certifications.
    • PMP and ITIL certifications are a plus.
    • Knowledge of working in public cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus but not essential.
