Job Title: Nursery Hand - Horticultural Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Nursery Hand to join our team. As a key member of our nursery staff, you will be responsible for assisting in the growth and maintenance of plants, as well as providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Potting: Plant seedlings into pots to promote healthy growth and development
  • Staking: Support young plants with stakes to prevent damage from wind and other environmental factors
  • Pruning: Regularly prune plants to maintain shape, promote healthy growth, and encourage flowering
  • Weeding: Remove weeds that compete with plants for water, nutrients, and light
  • Preparing stock for sale: Ensure plants are ready for customers by pruning, watering, and preparing them for display

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Essential plant knowledge, including identification, care, and maintenance
  • Sales experience an advantage, as you will be interacting with customers and promoting our products
  • Landscape design certificate advantageous, as you will be working closely with our design team to create beautiful and functional landscapes
  • Machinery operation skills advantageous, as you will be operating machinery such as tractors and lawn mowers
  • Manual driving license advantageous, as you will need to transport plants and equipment around the nursery
