Sustainability Expert Role Overview

Our organization is seeking a Sustainability Expert to join our team in Perth.

This role will involve providing environmental advice to engineers, contractors and client representatives to ensure best project outcomes and compliance with environmental approvals and regulator requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating a collaborative performance and reporting framework ensuring stakeholders are kept informed on progress.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the project CEMP and EMS.
  • Defining, assessing and mitigating environmental risks.
  • Advise on and contribute to sub-contractor management through input into scope development and oversee environmental compliance and performance.
  • Executing environmental monitoring programs, including Dust, Noise, Vibration, Vegetation monitoring and inspections and audits.
  • Delivery of environmental training for teams and contractors (inductions, land disturbance training, bio).
  • Being an integral part of successful execution of the Land Disturbance Procedure.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Understanding of Commonwealth environmental approvals framework and high degree of familiarity with State or Territory regulations.
  • Experience in environmental compliance.
  • Experience in a similar role within natural resources industry or equivalent.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Familiarity with GIS software, data capture and interpretation.
  • Demonstratable understanding of key environmental and social risks associated with natural resources projects.
  • Strength in communication, building stakeholder relationships, collaboration and negotiation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, or related fields of study with experience in managing State and Commonwealth environmental approvals.
