Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Systems Technician to join our maintenance team in Eastern Creek on a full-time basis.

This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of automated sortation systems and freight handling equipment across our depots.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, and continuous system improvements, minimizing downtime and optimizing operations.

  • Maintain and repair sortation and freight handling systems
  • Rapidly respond to mechanical faults or breakdowns
  • Adhere to preventative and predictive maintenance schedules
  • Utilize MEX (computerized maintenance system) to manage tasks
  • Maintain organized and safe tools, parts, and equipment
  • Collaborate with depot operations teams
  • Support initiatives for process improvement and system enhancements

Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential: Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter (Cert III Engineering – Mechanical)

Desirable Experience:

Conveyor systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics

BASIC understanding of PLCs, VSDs, and SCADA systems

Exposure to freight and logistics operations (highly regarded)

Safety and Compliance

Promote and model safe work practices

Comply with OHS legislation and relevant policies

Participate in inspections, audits, and incident investigations

Educate oneself on ongoing safety training and equipment checks

This role suits someone mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and able to perform well under pressure, supporting critical infrastructure in a fast-paced freight environment.
