The primary goal of an Optical Supervisor is to oversee the operations of an optical department, ensuring that it runs efficiently and effectively. This involves participating in Licensed Dispensing Opticians duties as needed, including fitting and adjusting eyeglasses and dispensing contacts.

The supervisor assists members while providing a high level of member service, exercising discretion and confidentiality with all employee and patient information. They work in communication with various levels of management to resolve issues, implementing and upholding proper Optical and general safety procedures and standards.

**Responsibilities:

  • Develops, coaches, counsels, and directs Optical personnel
  • Monitors employee performance and provides proactive feedback to promote team work and accountability
  • Participates in the employment process by making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination
  • Responds to employee concerns using problem solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with applicable regulations

**Required Skills and Qualifications:

- High School Certificate or higher required

- Training and apprenticeship as required by state

- Managerial or supervisory experience

- Previous optical experience

- Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and AS400

- Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal and organization skills

- Basic math skills

**Computer Skills:

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and AS400

**Licenses and Certifications:

- Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing (or equivalent experience)

- State Licensing as Dispensing Optician or National Certification by state specific requirements

**Other Skills and Abilities:

Good communication, strong interpersonal, organization, problem solving, and math skills

**Other Specific Requirements:

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Full COVID-19 vaccination or medical contraindications certificate
