About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Genomic Diagnostic Specialist to join our team at Healius. As a key member of our diagnostic laboratory, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality genomic testing and analysis to support clinical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Genomic Analysis and Interpretation: Perform analysis and interpretation of genomic test results, including variant curation and reporting.
- Quality Assurance and Control: Ensure adherence to NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements, internal protocols, and clinical guidelines.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the leadership team to develop and implement new assays, provide technical and scientific expertise to the analytical and pre-analytical team, and communicate with referring clinicians as required.
- Training and Development: Train other scientists, genetic pathology trainees, and faculty of science candidates in variant curation and other relevant skills.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in laboratory processes and collaborate with other team members to optimize testing-related activities.
- Qualifications: Masters in diagnostic genomics or equivalent, PhD/FHGSA/Fellowship of RCPA-Faculty of Science desirable.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in a scientific role in a diagnostic laboratory, previous experience with Whole Exome/Genome Sequencing, and experience in variant curation.
- Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge in the field of NIPT, inherited cancer, reproductive genetics, neurodevelopmental genetics, and genetics of haematological disorders highly desirable, but not essential. Knowledge of tertiary analysis platforms desirable.
