Job Summary

Catholic Education Western Australia is seeking a highly organized and experienced Groundsperson to maintain the aesthetic and functional integrity of our college grounds on an adhoc basis. This position will be to cover a staff member when leave is booked in or to cover a staff member who is out on sick leave.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake various maintenance and grounds requests and ensure urgent and adhoc requests are fulfilled within a timely manner.
  • Manage maintenance requests through the maintenance helpdesk in the absence of the Property Manager.
  • Provide and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with occupational, health and safety legislation.
  • Ensure College grounds are maintained in a clean, healthy, tidy state that provides staff and students with a safe external learning environment.
  • Assist in setting up of venues for College activities which may include but is not limited to, movement of furniture, lighting requirements and lock up procedures.

Requirements

  • Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC).
  • Hold a current National Police Clearance from the Department of Education.
  • Annually complete the online Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training.
  • Hold or be working towards an Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in a grounds/maintenance team.
  • Experience of working in a team environment with a demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong problem solving skills, ability to prioritize with a high level of time management and organizational skills.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of organizational and time management skills, with the proven ability to communicate effectively, whilst supporting the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties.

The successful applicant will also demonstrate the ability to work well both independently as well as in a team.
