About the Opportunity

This is a unique chance to make a significant impact in the fields of nursing and midwifery, driving progress and shaping future healthcare professionals. As a key member of the Nursing and Midwifery team at The University of Western Australia, you will play a crucial role in course development, curriculum delivery, and research focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative teaching methods, assessments, and course materials in collaboration with Course Directors.
  • Contribute to the development of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in nursing and midwifery, emphasizing collaboration, capacity building, and advancing cross-disciplinary research and teaching.
  • Strengthen existing partnerships and explore new ones with internal and external stakeholders, including Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, on both national and international levels.

About You

You are an experienced nursing or midwifery professional with a strong background in Aboriginal Health. With a tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, you are registered or eligible for registration with the NMBA through AHPRA and have over 5 years of post-registration experience.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in nursing, midwifery, or Aboriginal Health; registered or eligible for registration with NMBA/AHPRA with a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience; current membership with a relevant professional association.
  • Ability to deliver teaching in Aboriginal health at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels; experience in curriculum development and teaching (face-to-face or online); evidence of excellence in teaching performance; ability to support and mentor Aboriginal health students.
  • Experience working with both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in education settings.
  • Ability to relate well to staff and students, commitment to equity and diversity principles; positive contribution to team, school, and wider University activities.
  • Evidence of reflective practice and understanding the nexus between teaching and learning, research, scholarship, and practice.
