Marine Observing Systems Manager

Description:

The Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) is a national collaborative research infrastructure supported by the Australian Government. As a key team member, you will contribute to the success of IMOS by compiling contracts, plans, reports, and budgets while overseeing the IMOS National program of work and improving business management systems.

  • Act as a recognised expert in IMOS operations, covering performance indicators 1 and 2; deployment and recovery of equipment, and data delivery protocols.
  • Develop, implement, manage, and improve the IMOS operations database, and milestone delivery protocols.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including IMOS Operators, Facility/Sub-Facility leaders, and the broader IMOS community.
  • Provide support to executive-level decision-making and participate in committees as required.

This role requires high-level project management and coordination skills with accuracy and attention to detail. You must have a degree qualification in a relevant science or administrative discipline with at least four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

  • Compiling and managing contracts, plans, reports, and budgets.
  • Overseeing the IMOS National program of work and improving business management systems.
  • Developing and implementing new operational databases and protocols.
  • Maintaining relationships with stakeholders and providing support to executive-level decision-making.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree qualification in a relevant science or administrative discipline.
  • At least four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training.
  • High-level project management and coordination skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
