About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Cultural Wellbeing Specialist to join our team at Yarrow Place, providing expert care and cultural leadership for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.

As part of our HaRTSS team, you will work within a mobile outreach-based model, offering flexible and intensive therapeutic support to young people who require it. Your role will involve establishing strong relationships with young people, their families, and communities, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff to provide comprehensive care.

Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. As a Cultural Wellbeing Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing direct expert care and cultural guidance to young people, their families, and communities.
  • Leading and participating in quality improvement activities, policy development, and projects that promote best practice in Aboriginal health and wellbeing.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement preventative and therapeutic programs.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia.

You should also possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with Aboriginal young people, their families, and communities.
  • Extensive experience in providing assessment and interventions for young people experiencing complex health, social, and emotional wellbeing difficulties.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures, including family and community obligations.
  • Understanding of historical and contemporary issues affecting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people.
