Job Title: Data Science Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Science Specialist to join our team in developing innovative solutions for complex problems. This role will involve working on exciting projects at the intersection of data fusion, decision making and machine learning, with real-world testing and feedback.

The successful applicant will work under the direction of A/Prof Claudia Szabo in the School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, collaborating with researchers and engineers to push forward projects of national significance. You will learn first-hand about the current state of drone-based surveillance, tracking and distributed decision making, and have a meaningful impact on the future direction of critically deployed solutions.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a team environment, have strong communication skills, and be able to effectively collaborate with industrial partners.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent industry experience in computer science, data science or (applied) machine learning, decision making, and other closely related areas.
  • Demonstrated expertise in setting up pipelines for artificial intelligence and/or machine learning techniques used for decision making, particularly behavior analysis techniques.
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in data science and data fusion.
  • Demonstrated expertise in user experience (UX) design, specifically in developing user interfaces that enable effective operator control and monitoring of drones.
  • A relevant first degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Expertise and experience in computer programming, especially in Python and C++.
